Etigi by Dandollah finally dropped. *whew
Before i go into details, let me quickly take you on a journey into the world of Dandollah.
His peers in Mafoluku,
where he grew up, encouraged his interest in music and he believes music is his
calling therefore no amount of challenge there in can deter him.
After he left high school he picked up a multi-level market
business. As a young man that was interested in having a generative source of
livelihood, he decided to bring his friend into it to make more money. When he
explained the terms of the business to his friends and how payments will be
made in Dollar, they mocked him by referring to him as DANDOLLAR.
Daniel Emmanuel Essien, the second child out of family of 6,
hails from Akwa Ibom state. He grew up in Mafoluku area of Lagos state where he
attended Hope Primary School, Mafoloku Oshodi . He then proceed to Unity High
school in the same locality for his secondary school education. Dandollah
afterward, picked up teaching. He was a physics teacher for some time before he
gained admission to Lagos State University (LASU) in year 2008. Due to lack of
finances to further his University Education, he dropped out of school in his
second year.
His vision as a youth is to become one of Nigeria’s music
export. While growing up and discovering himself, football could be listed as
one of his gifts too but he ended up consecrating all his attention to music
because of the inviolable passion he has for the art of singing. One major
thing that encouraged him is the company he keeps; he goes to music studio
alongside his friends to sing. Music has, hence, taken Dandollah through thick
and thin but the picture of ‘future him’ that he painted is what keeps him
going.
Dandollah is no exception to hero-worshiping or idolizing,
as many would call it, of big artists which is normal among upcoming acts like
him. He looks up to two great artists in Nigeria namely; 2face Idibia and “Paul
Play” I.K Dairo. Dandollah took after these two great performers in terms of
his musical genre. He does Pop & R ‘n’ B to show he is following the foot
step of those he idolizes. He looks forward to working with the two afore mentioned
artists and as well ‘Koko Master’, D’banj.
He loves to write songs, listen to music, he loves reading
motivational books where he draws his inspirations from and he spends time in
the studio rehearsing. He has worked with different producers right from when
he embarked on his journey into the world of entertainment, but the one that
has made significant impact on him is Dr. Bean,
who he met through a friend of his. The philosophy he lives by is “if
you don’t believe in yourself no one will believe in you”. His saddest moment
was when his mother passed away.

To me, this is another form of Etigi song. Dr. Bean created a masterpiece and Dandollah delivered on it.
